Czardas are Erin Collins, vocals and accordion, Steve Gadd, guitar and Marjorie Gadd on fiddle. Steve and Marjorie work as an instrumental duet however the inclusion of Erin's velvet vocals have allowed the group to focus on songs in folkish and cabaret styles which weave seamlessly into instrumental excursions. A Czardas is a wild Hungarian tavern dance much loved by the Tzigane. Playing both traditional and original material Czardas, the trio, draw on Russian, Hungarian, Flamenco, Gypsy, Yiddish and Middle Eastern elements for inspiration. They present a program that takes you from deeply moving haunting airs to extravagent instrumentals and burlesque songs all delivered with passion and just a touch of pathos. Czardas have played extensively in Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria. This group can play featured concerts but are also suitable as background music for special events. |
